Course Description

Explore what it means to lead with purpose through the inspiring lives of biblical patriarchs, authors, and exemplars of faith. In Leading with Purpose we examine their legacy along with the significant work of St. Vincent de Paul, a pioneer of compassionate and entrepreneurial leadership. Discover how he aligned his leadership with a higher purpose—serving the marginalized poor and less fortunate around him. Explore strategies to develop self-competencies of establishing values to live by and increasing your openness; a missional mindset; greater interpersonal connectedness; and perseverance in the face of difficulty.

Doug Murphy is the Dean of Operations and Strategic Educational Initiatives at the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. He has been a member of the part-time faculty since 1990. In 2022, he received the Excellence in Teaching Award from DePaul. His MA with a focus in Academic Strategic Planning was earned through SCPS and his BA in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame​.
